Glam rockers Queen are one of the few truly iconic British bands. With more than four decades of music, 18 number one albums to their names, and an excess of 300 million albums sold worldwide, Queen is recognized as one of the most influential rock bands of all time.
Big, brash and fabulously larger than life, the music of Queen was made for a symphony orchestra.
To create THE MUSIC OF QUEEN: A ROCK AND SYMPHONIC SPECTACULAR, seasoned musician and composer Richard Sidwell skillfully and artfully augmented the original Queen arrangements, resulting in a completely new symphonic score and remarkable concert experience. “At the end of the day, Queen are a rock band,” Sidwell says, “the orchestra is sitting on top enhancing, elaborating and expanding their amazing songs. There is such a lot of musically interesting stuff going on under the surface, and they’re such well-crafted songs that it became great fun to delve into them and develop them for the orchestra.”
Featuring over 50 performers including the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, a live rock band and stars from the West End smash hit musical We Will Rock You belting legendary hits like “Radio Ga Ga”, “We Are the Champions” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”, it’s the biggest rock and classical party you are likely ever to experience! Audience participation is highly encouraged, so sing along to your favourites as you celebrate Queen’s rich collection of classics!
