Downtown Toronto’s annual outdoor multi-day boutique summer roots music festival, TURF (Toronto Urban Roots Festival) will celebrate its third year with a move from early July to the middle of September.

TURF’s Artistic Director, Jeff Cohen on the decision to move TURF to September for 2015: “We’ve always talked about programming TURF either in early July, during the summer festival season, or in mid-September, when university starts – the first two years July won out but this year with the Pan Am and Parapan Games likely to occupy downtown Toronto, I was like, okay, this seems like a golden opportunity to try out September, let’s just go for it.”

TURF returns to the Historic Fort York Commons, with THREE OUTDOOR STAGES, and FORTY FIVE Artists, over 3 DAYS-NIGHTS on September 18-20 plus TURF will program some of the same artists in both Lee’s Palace and the Horseshoe Tavern between September 17 and 21, as part of TURF’s annual Club Bonus Series.

Lee’s is turning THIRTY YEARS OLD in September 2015,” says TURF Production Director Ben Pearlman, (who also co-owns the venue). “So TURF programming there is part of the kick-off of a year-long celebratory birthday of this storied local live music venue.”

TURF will announce its first set of confirmed artists on April 20th with three-day TURF Bracelets going on sale on April 23rd @ noon for $149.99 ++.

This year, TURF will be focused on “Artists from Toronto” through-out the weekend. Each of the festival’s outdoor stage(s) will be Cohen adds, “No question the move to September unearthed some music gems outside the normal middle of summer touring patterns, we confirmed another Violent Femmes, a great early 80’s new wave punk band that has not played Toronto in ages, and when you see the whole of our lineup, it seems obvious to me it’s hands down the best one we’ve had yet – I’m beyond thrilled to be programming TURF in September and excited to see if North American music fans are equally enthused about our lineup as I am.”
